Thanks to the efforts of our Secretary-Treasurer, Roger Schulz, along with a host of members that contributed articles, our book on Reel Restoration and repair is finally finished. The book gives numerous hints and demonstrations as to how best to clean and lubricate both antique and conventional reels as well as methods to make commonly required repairs. In addition, there are articles about materials used and importantly, guidelines for proper restoration and for grading of our reels. The format is a notebook-style, working document that will accommodate additions over time and also serve as a place for members to add their own individual notes and methodologies.

You can order your restoration booklet by sending a Private Message (PM) to Roger and he will provide you with the information you need to either mail in a payment or use PayPal if you prefer. Cost is $49.95, which includes shipping by Media Mail. If you prefer, you can pay an extra $10 for priority mail delivery instead. International sales are also welcome at the most reasonable rate we can find (maybe go in with others and split a flat rate box?). All profits will go to support the Club, so order your copy before they are all gone!

ORCA Members:

Received a number of requests from members purchasing the Restoration Book today. I think you will be happy with what ORCA is making available to its members and collectors in general. It has a lot of very useful articles and overall guidelines for the restoration and repair of fishing reels. Order a copy today. Price is $49.95 and that includes media postage rate.

Got a copy today. WOW! Great work guys. EVERY serious reel collector should get a a copy. Skip the two early articles I wrote (early means over ten years ago) and read the in-depth guides first that will really help a lot of beginners and seasoned collectors as well upgrade their reels.

A special thanks to Pres. John Elder, Sec-Treas.Roger Schulz, and reel historian and expert on (among numerous other aspects of antique reels) reel materials, Steve Vernon for putting this together.

Worth every penny, reel collectors! Go for it!

The publication is now available in the ORCA store also. Those of you who have ordered a copy, let us know what you think of it. The publication contains guidelines for restoring and repairing fishing reels. Over the years members have suggested that ORCA develop such guidelines.

ORCA has also added this for sale on ebay, along with memberships, with the help of Dave Lucas. Ebay notes as of today that there are an average of 29 viewers of the item per day with three sales so far. Great Job Dave!

Great Book!
Thanks to all who contributed. The tip about using gunsmith screwdrivers/tools really reduces buggered up screw heads. Lots of useful advice for sure.
