New Reel Talk Photo Uploading Feature
New Reel Talk Photo Uploading Feature
After a long absence from Reel Talk, ORCA has restored the ability to upload photos directly from your computer or mobile device for posting here in the forum. A very big thanks to our web administrator, Andrew, who spent many hours to build customized software from the ground up for this feature. Instead of depending on external hosting services, Reel Talk images can now be preserved with your messages and the information that you share with other reel collectors.
Our suggestion would be to just give it a try first, using the "Image Upload" button to the left of the "full editor" screen. It is really very simple. There are a couple of options available and you can learn more about the feature in a tutorial that Andrew put together: viewtopic.php?t=15596
Of course you can still upload photos the old way using an external host and the process for that is still the same. However, the problem with that is images may disappear when a members free account expires or files are changed/deleted. As photos are oftentimes crucial to passing on your information, we recommend using the ORCA photo hosting service, or "ORCA bucket", as it's been nicknamed.
One last word is that the uploading feature cannot be used for any other purposes other than to post photos here. For security purposes, there is no file directory that members can access like other hosting services and images cannot be "hot linked" to use on other sites. Andrew's tutorial has more information.

Re: New Reel Talk Photo Uploading Feature
Once a pic is uploaded for a message, can it be accessed somewhere here by the OP and used in a later message?
Re: New Reel Talk Photo Uploading Feature
No, there is no directory that you can copy it from or access. If you remember what post you used it in, you can right click and get the url, copy and paste it into your new message.
