Happy, Happy, Happy

Post by Reel Geezer »

Here in Idaho, the past week has been just beautiful. Cool nights, and deep blue, clear skies. Add in a full moon and you have a full plate for a fisherman. Or even a fisherwoman. Here is the Rubber Reel Lady (Marilyn) with an 18.5" smallmouth that she caught last Friday. It was one of 45 we brought to the boat that day. We were fishing a small area on the Snake River and never saw another fisherman. The previous day I had landed 50 smallies, which was enough to lure Marilyn out on the river with Fudge and I.

Yesterday (Monday) I went back for another helping. I fished for 4.5 hours and landed 60 smallmouth. It was an incredible day with lots of fish and as you can see, beautiful clear blue skies and calm winds. This 19.25" smallmouth was my best fish, but I also had an 18" and several others nearing that mark.

There seems to be no lack of chow for these river fish. This one convinced me to get out my scale and see what it weighed. The fish was 17.5" long and it weighed in at 4 pounds even.

The weather is supposed to hold for several more days, so we should be able to enjoy some more great days on the water. Wow! I'm a very happy old geezer.

You are undoubtedly the richest man in the world right now .
Got your own private river and more fish than you can catch.

Just invite this guy to join you next time, and you shouldn't have a problem.

It's about time you posted a photo of Marilyn holding a fish! Some of us haven't seen her since the Texas national.

They were all caught on soft plastic baits = creatures, tubes, worms, etc. The fish have moved toward their winter holes and were in 10-20' of water. Both the biggest fish came on a drop shot rig.

All of the pictures you guys show of the Snake River make me believe it must be the best fishery in the U.S. Simply fantastic. When you show a picture like that, Roger is probably packing his bags again!

If my wife wouuld let me and Phil would take me in again, I would fly out for some fall fishing. However, I think Carolyn thinks two times a year is enough. Phil and Marilyn look happy in the pictures. The fish will wait for me.

I did not see Fudge.
