Yikes!

Post by WeeKilt »

Fishing in the gulfstream today off the coast of SC with my OC 605. Reeling in a great amberjack and suddenly the handle feels wobbly? Knob suddenly comes off in my hand! Thank God I was able to crank it in with the weight on the other side (and THAT was no small feat!), but I never saw that one coming! This repair might be one for John Elder! I have no idea how to fix that, or re-peen it! LOL

Great trip though. Been fishing saltwater for many years but never hooked a rock hind grouper, and he was a nice one at 24 lbs! Gonna be fish tacos at the beach house tomorrow night!

Tight lines,
Keith in Arden, NC (but right now Georgetown, SC!)

You are welcome to send along, Keith, and I'll see what I can do. Can't recall whether that knob turns at the handle or at the grasp, but either spot has a lot of stress when pulling in a fish that size? No pics?
