Box Canyon, Henry's Fork and South Fork- July 08

Post by Paul M »

I spent a few days at a friend's cabin in Idaho during July. We enjoyed drifting through Box Canyon, Henry's Fork, South Fork and some wading in the incrediblly challenging Railroad Ranch. I thought you all would be interested in seeing a few pictures...

My first Rainbow in Box Canyon, just below the dam. Caught on a wet midge, just after I broke off a larger fish...

I caught this nice Brown on Henry's Fork. It was rising between sweepers next to the bank and it took me 3 perfect casts with a size 16 fly to get the strike. The fly fishing in these waters can be quite technical.

South Fork boat launch area. Looks tame here but with high water that week, the rest of the river was a monster and you needed to have a skilled boat handler to be safe.

Salmon flies were few and far between but they are incredibly large as are the flies that imitate them.

Tight lines to all,
