Model F
Hello Jim,
No amount, it is not for sale, just for show. Hope you and yours are well.
Toyman,
There were a bit over 1000 made and distributed all over the country. I believe I have accounted for about 10 plus or minus one or two, that still exist. But one never knows when one more will pop up at a garage sale.

By the way Toyman, the Seaford box you have is a 1933 box and the catalog is 1935. They are not a match, which you can see if you look at the Seaford reel in the catalog and compare it to the reel on the box label. I hate to nitpick but it was obvious to me so I had to put my two cents in. Of course the box may have hung around in the Penn factory for a couple of years and Penn may have put the catalog and newer type reel in the older box. Things did get mixed sometimes. I believe that someone at Penn purchased a old Longbeach box some years ago and found a Model K in the box. The only difference between a 1933 Longbeach and a Model K with star drag is the logo and the clicker button.

For me, major parts of the joy of collecting are the treasure hunt & thrill of discovering gold in them thar hills. Buying a desireable $100 reel from another collector for $100 effectively short circuits this.
Everybody interested in old Penns probably wants an F or K, take a number. If you know what a Penn F is, its probably not for sale anyway. If its going to change hands it'll likely have to go up for adoption. You can always get more money, but few can get more Penn F models.
I'm still hoping to find a neglected F at a yardsale or fleamarket among junky "crap reels" for $5, much like the early Mitchell Salt Water I found on Sat. Maybe next winter when the Snowbirds blow in.

Putting a price on a Model F or one of the K's is difficult. As I just told someone here on the board. You can go a number of ways if you want to sell it.
1)---->The first way is for the brave man. You make up a really good description, take some great pictures and put it on EBay for $.99 and let the chips fall where they may...Last week I got $237.00 for a 1958 Penn Squidder 140 mint in the box, I started the bidding at $9.95. But that was a Squidder, I would be uncomfortable about doing that with my Model F. I guess I am not a brave man.
2)---->The second way is for the insecure man. Put the Model F for sale with a "Buy It Now" of $2500. If it does not sell, you can always drop the price and try again. If it sells in 10 minutes, then you know you screwed up and will start punching the wall.
or yay-banana
3)---->For the determined man. Just bite the bullet and post it here for Best Offer and let the old crummy reel go.
To me there is much pleasure in owning a milestone item. Whatever amount it sells for will not make that much of a difference in my life. It is more fun owning it.
But if there is someone out there that want to make a difference in my life, he is welcome to make me a offer I can't refuse.
