Shimano Bantam 100 EX
I have 2 very nice Bantam 100's and love them. The 100EX in blue looks nice, but what is the lure control switch for on the left side plate? What does it do and how does it work? I am just wanting to learn more about these old beauties. I rebuilt 3 recently, 2 Bantam 100's and a Bantam Mag 10XSG. All with new gear sets, abec 7 ball bearings, ceramic pawl, and carbon tex drag disc. Those were installed after a full 100% tear down, deep clean, and re-lube. One of the 100's got a spool upgrade to a red Avail lightweight spool for cast small to medium baits. That one really cast wonderful! I am tempted to add a nice 100EX to my collection, but I want to understand how it works and what the difference is first.

Re: Shimano Bantam 100 EX
The “Cast Control” dial on the face plate controls the centrifugal brake. This is called a “lure control function” in the Shimano history link below. I’m guessing the switch on the tailplate is a clicker? It’s in the right place for one.
