"More coffee, Honey?"

Post by Richard Lodge »

Posting this for laughs. Truly sexist but a sign of those "old days." Makes me wonder if John Elder wears a tie and smokes a pipe while working on reels. :D

It's not really sexist. The guy races home from his office job so he can work on his reels. His sensible wife brings him a couple of empty cups so he can keep the parts in them instead of losing them on the floor, as usual. When he starts taking that automatic apart, she'll bring him a helmet and safety goggles, then leave asap.

I did have that image of you at the workbench, John. Steve's theory is interesting, especially about wearing a helmet when taking apart an automatic reel.

My wife has done this sort of thing for me many times. And I for her. In fact, once, before we were married, she snuck into my office and filled the cabinets over my desk with treats. What a nice surprise that was. My office mate would get all warm and fuzzy when she came in. I still do.

My wife just noticed something: There are two cups of coffee on the tray. She is going to join him for coffee and reel work. Quite sweet. And, my wife says, it’s probably the only time she gets to see him!

The pipe is a clue to my conclusion that this is clearly a younger Mike Nogay, and he is trying to convert the reel to a tournament reel. His lovely wife is supportive of course.
