I love 1500-grit sandpaper

Post by Ron Mc »

I had a sticky pawl post on a vintage fly reel last night. The post is riveted and the pawl was drilled not slotted,
so it can't be removed. Worked great in pay but, when I wound it forward, the pawl would bind so that the spring
couldn't push it back, and it would let the spool freespool. I kept rubbing the bad spot with 1500-grit and now it
works like 1935.

might as well put a pretty picture of the reel in here:

it was that pawl on the left

or two

*sigh*

As long as I'm here, I'll hijack this into a gratuitous fly reels photo thread.
