I know a lot about those reels.
What exactly do you want to know?
As opposed to what John may have heard, the reels are well-known worldwide and have gained a very strong foothold which long predates the Penn Internationals. All the gold lever-drag reels in fact, with the exception of the now-defunct Fin-Nors. The reels are essentially bulleproof, which you may note in that you're holding a late-60's model which appears to have been in regular use ever since.
The reels have been essentially unchanged since the late '50's, and are still made in Italy by the same family. What you have there is the 4/0 size (they range from 2½0 to 18/0) of the Special Series with the multidisc clutch.
They regularly sell on ebay for varying amounts; it depends on whatever mood ebay is in at the time. They have been in continuous production for a long time, so they are not rare. Spare parts incidentally are available for almost all reels, regardless of age.
They are a neat reel. So much in fact, that I one day long ago decided I wanted to work with them, and now do.
Joe: What does Lawson's say? I don't have it.
Addendums... There is a lot of info on their website, www.Everol.com It explains the drag scale, some history, other models etc. Schematics too. There have been posts here at ORCA-- do a search of this board.
Odd models... Everols with markings from Garcia, Ted Williams and ABU are unusual. .and a trivia tidbit: Everol is an acronym. One of the founders was Elio Veroli. See the enigmatic Sunshine logo? Two girls... those are his daughters. Mr Veroli died some time ago, and the logo has fallen from use. The other founder is Gianni Sganzerla, whose son now runs the company.
Anything else?
Doc.

Dr. Rob..thanks for adding the useful details...and Joe's post also shows that who walks by and how much change is rattling around in their pockets defines value. As Rob indicated, prices on Ebay are all over the place and largely biased my assessment, along with Lawson's quotes, which were for 3 reels of varied states..$72, $145, and $172... as Stu indicated in another thread, his prices garnered from assorted sources of the time have flown in both directions, depending on the reels in question and the latest collector whims.
The other experience I've had is watching a friend, who scored one of these in a deal 5 years or so ago and decided it was too neat to not be worth more than the market indicated. I'm recalling that his magic cut-off was "nothing less than 200" or thereabouts...after 5 years, it is still a doorstop in his lure room...a very handsome one, but he still has it.
Soooo, it's a neat reel and the right person comes along and you can do well...or just add your own handsome doorstop to your trophy room!

Bonus post... comparative pics of a brand new 2006 model.
EDIT: I hate it when this happens. I gotta get a better pic upload site... Listen, if you're getting red x-boxes, right-click on the icon and view the pics that way.
