advice re heddon reel paperwork, please

Post by john elder »

Is there anything that can be done to clean this paperwork...or any other with this type of soiling? I think those brown spots are from some sort of mold, rather than oil, since they are on the surface, with no soak-thru. The black ink is pretty tough, but the red ink, as usual, appears to be water soluble and could run easily. The other part of the question is, or course, is it worth the bother? Obviously pretty early paperwork!

:D :?:  your pics did not come thru, however if you have a college in your area with a art dept, most likly they can remove the stains and not hurt the paper, also any art restoring place or photografic studio can either do it or send you to a proper plaqce. thanks, milt...I had taken down the pics due to apparent lack of interest! Your idea is well-taken at any rate...might as well try to connect with someone that makes a living at it!

best,
