Record Prices

Post by Brian F. »

So now that lures have a new record price of 92k  , what is the current record for reels? And why is it that lures, which are just static pieces of wood, metal or plastic, are so much more expensive than neat metal things that almost resemble kinetic sculpture?

Sorry, just wanted to try out the new smiley faces. Thanks Paul!

I suspect that supply and demand are at work here. There are far more lure collectors than reel collectors, hence more demand. Also, reels are probably more durable than most lures, and survive poor storage conditions better - greater supply. And lastly, you don't routinely throw reels into the water (unless you're having a really bad day), so they tend to not get lost to snags or large fish like lures do - that supply thing again.
