EVH made Montague?

Post by Dan »

I just picked this up last week. It is a Montague "Offshore" but it has what is clearly an Edward Vom Hofe foot. Did EVH make reels for Montague or was this produced when it was under the Ocean City umbrella in Philadelphia using parts from both companies? I have not seen one of these beforehand was wondering if anyone could shed some light... it will be for sale when I figure out more info and a value.

Dan I am a collector of Salt Water Reels & I have found that other reel makers other than EVH used a 3 hole foot, a 2 hole & a 1 hole foot in their larger tarpon size reels to reduce the weight. For example I have 6 different model Pflueger tarpon size reels with the 3 hole foot that looks just like the EVH foot & the JVH foot. Most of the Companies used some kind of cut out on the reel foot to reduce the weight on their larger salt water reels.
