I didn’t get a table, but my wife and I drove out to Buckeye Lake for the show.

Always with a smile, ORCA member Doug Carpenter came up from Kentucky and had a nice table setup.

This Weber Futurist and Case fly fishing knife were found on another table:

Buckeye Lake is about 7 miles long in the middle of Ohio, just off I-70. It has a rich fishing history.

Don’t tell him, but I picked up a $10 Christmas stocking stuffer for Dr. Elder. Who else could turn this JVH face plate into a functioning reel?

And finally, there were quite a few vintage ice fishing spears at several tables.

Not sure which is a more unlikely find in Ohio, four tuna line spools including one sold by Edward vom Hofe, or two vintage Iowa game badges.

Thanks for the pics Mike. Is Buckeye Lake an impoundment or does it have a glacial origin?

From Ohiohistorycentral.org

Buckeye Lake originally was a small pond that eighteenth century Ohio Indians called "Big Swamp" or "Big Pond." It remained insignificant to white settlers until the 1820s, when Ohioans began construction of the Ohio and Erie Canal. Workers built a dike that diverted water from the south fork of the Licking River into the small pond, which then became known as the Licking Summit Reservoir. This part of the canal project was completed in 1830.

Interesting history Mike. Not many (any?) lakes with that type of pedigree. A possibility that the original pond-swamp was a low area in glacial debris. That would go back over ten thousand years-end of Pleistocene Wisconsin Ice Stage. Thanks for posting it!
