Line Master Reel by Dearborn Tackle Co.

Post by RonG »

I received an email asking about a reel marked Line Master, Dearborn Tackle Co. In Michigan. I'm not familiar with the reel, but it has an interesting anti-backlash bar. Anyone have any info on this reel? Thanks.

Here's an ad from a April 1949 Easterling Hardware Company , Anniston, Alabama.

Also found a note in the Dec 6, 1948 issue of the Hartford Courant, Hartford, CT) which noted the company was Dearborn Tackle Company, 19 Owens Avenue, Detroit(2), Mich.

So it looks like another post WWII small company. Maybe some of the Michigan folks can add more.

The box and paperwork say it was made ("sole manufactureres") by Oakwood Precision Grinding Company, 5139 Military Avenue, Detroit 10, Michigan. Walter H. Schatz Industries Inc. was the distributor located at 28 E Jackson Blvd., Chicago 4, Illinois. (Jim Madden, 6/28/2007)
I think we can conclusively rule out that these reels were manufactured by Oakwood Precision...There is also another of these Swedish ABU trade reels--this time marked Line Master and Dearborn Tackle Company, Mich. (TEAL, 11/6/2008)
