Post by Mandrews »

I want to get the value of a Vintage Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Brown reel with no foot Number. I have never seen a reel without a foot number. Can anyone help?

Thanks

What year? Vintage is normally > 50 years; antique is over 100 years.

Thanks

The High Speed (second digit being 5) came out in 1973 with the 5500C. If the reel foot does not have a serial # or YY/MM/2 digit Lot # there is strong possibility that the reel foot has been changed or replaced. Replacement feet do not have numbers.

If you want accurate information you're going to have to post some detailed photos including innards and the bottom of the foot. Too many variables in those reels to guesstimate.

Your best bet at finding a value would be to check sold auction and/or eBay sales.

Here is one on E-Bay that sold in June of this year

If yours is better then you can expect a better price.

If you have a photo edit program on your computer you can resize them so that they will be accepted. Most photo host sights have the capability of resizing, also.

The easiest way for me to get an upload-able photo is to take a picture with my iPhone and then to email it to my iPad as “medium,” 91.3 KB. Below is what pops up on an iPhone when you email a photo from your phone. I then upload to Reel Talk. Works ever time.
