Mitchell 306
I have a Mitchell 306 and when I move the switch to only let it reel forward/clicking, it slips sometimes. Is there a part to fix this or do I need to clean the inside real good. I want to give it to my grandson to fish with. He really loves the reel.
Thanks, Robert

This lever is probably gummed up .Cleaning and some oil will fix it right up.

+1...wash out with mineral spirits to get rid of old grease, then lightly apply new grease and it will likely work fine for another generation.

If the cleaning does not solve the problem it could be a damaged A/R dog or a damaged tooth on the drive gear.I have the parts to repair your reel..

I will vouch for Dick Janak for a job such as this. It's been a long time since Dick had to fix something for me or sell me a part, but I've dealt with him multiple times, and it's it's always first class.

Dick is a great guy, I just received a side plate for a Pueger Capitol. I have gotten other parts in the past from him.

What Robert and Joe said! Dick has had parts I have needed for years. Great guy and obviously an unimaginable inventory of parts.

Speaking of old Mitchell 306's, I like them and have several of them. I found this one a couple of years ago that doesn't look like it was used very much, if at all. It had the box and paperwork with it including the receipt. It was purchased on 11/04/1977.
