Thoughts on the January 2020 Reel News

Post by Mike N »

I received my copy of the Reel News in West Virginia today and Richard did his usual excellent job.

Our President’s column noted that there will a Premium (over $200 estimated value) Reel Auction at the ORCA Nationals this year. That’s a great idea. Too often these show auctions turn into a dumping ground for cast offs.

We need to add a distance casting exhibition to our ORCA vintage reel casting events to go along with the level wind and non-level wind accuracy events.

The excellent article in the Reel News about the exploits of Primo Livenias by Colby and Alan is great reading. Steve, Betty, Dick, Todd, Roger and Nello also make this issue a keeper.

PS the beautiful gold-plated Orvis 1874 patent reel is featured on the cover.
