Interesting Meisselbach Manufacturing Insight

Post by RonG »

I ran across this article in the 1910 "American Machinist" magazine about Meisselbach's manufacturing process for making their Takapart reel body. See link below.

Also in the magazine was a Meisselbach-Catucci ad for the gear hobbing machine they offered.

Interesting article. You will enjoy my article in the March issue of the Reel News when it comes out. It talks about the work of Pliny Catucci. He worked for Gus Meisselbach starting in 1900 and was the engineer and inventor behind many of the reels Meisselbach sold. He invented the Hobbing Gear Cuttter. Meisselbach and Catucci formed the Meisselbach-Catucci Mfg. Company - small gear specialists. I do have one of their sales books for Hobbing Gear Cutters.
