With all the local tackle swap events cancelled, I have been unable to meet the fellow that has been holding this rare combo for me since October. I have several copies of the reel but had never seen this box before. Sooner or later I will get my hands on it and bring it home where it belongs.

Paul, I love the “jeweled” side plate on that reel. You see that same technique used by gunsmiths on the slides of classic .45 semi-auto pistols. If I recall from a trip years ago, Peterborough (where that reel was made in Ontario) is near a series of river rapids and a lake.

Very nice, John. Here's a few more random examples...

One of my favorites. The Reel-O-Mine never came with a box, but rather a chamois bag.

Okay I will bore you with another Penn. This is an early first gen 14/0 with 5 o'clock handle. Far more uncommon than the early 12/0s and 9/0s but not as rare as the holy grail 16/0 first gen Senators with the 5 o'clock handles !! I believe there have only been around four of those documented but I am sure there are probably a few more out there with tight lipped owners ! Anyway here is my early 14/0. Enjoy !! John Taylor

I have a few nice reels in my collection but they are from some very good friends that, without, I would not have a collection at all. Just a few and many that I don't have photos of so please don't feel otherwise if you're not here.

Lorne

Tom

Jim

Harvey M.

Richard

Wiggy, Dave, Bill

Ed

Roger, Richard, John and Butch

Dan

Alan gets two because Nello and Colby are in the background

Clay and his mystery bite

Dale Noll

Bad Bob Miller in the middle.

Dr. Rob. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of him but I've known him for years and he helped me find this

It appears this thread has been a little too slanted so I though I would plop out some glossies of a few of my faves!

ABU-Record 700 with hang tag & Mylar manual in Swedish circa 1954/55 ish:

ABU 444 circa 1956:

US version of the ABU 444, ABU Garcia circa 1956:

ABU Garcia Special Tournament with two - two tiered magnesium spools circa 1956. These spools have been refinished to their original Candy Apple Red color as required maintenance because raw magnesium spools corrode aggressively if the protective finish is allowed to deteriorate.

Minerva, Italy's first ultra-light reel circa 1940 and one of only four known to exist:

Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Great pictures Brian, its good to see some of the faces I haven't seen in a while, thanks for posting them. Your Crawford reel is a killer too, I haven't seen one come up for sale in ages. Kinda wish I had hung on to mine.

Love the spinning reels Tommy, I'm glad someone else posted a couple. Here are a couple more just for you.
