Anybody Know The Maker?

Post by wrong99 »

...of this raised pillar hard rubber and nickel plated reel? Has the serial #131 stamped between the pillars on top of the foot, as well as scratched into components inside. Any help would be appreciated.

How does the clicker work on the reel? Straight movement of pawl by the button or via a lever and sliding or rotating clicker button??

John,
The reel discussed above is the straight movement type pawl, shown below.

I have a second reel, similar style, with the same handle & grip, foot and serial #10 stamped on top of the foot. It has the clicker on the face that is a rotating 2-position pawl, like I think I've seen on other Malleson reels. Photos of this reel can be seen below.

Can't recall ever seeing a Mallesonistic rotating click on the tailplate of a reel.

So, are either of them Malleson? If not, any ideas? Thanks.

My query related to the reel in this post, which is also marked on the top of the foot with the same “production #” that is scrawled inside. The PTB have declared this one JVH but I was struck by the similarity in markings that I have not noted as typical JVH.
