creels

Post by Dustnstuff »

Are there any creel collectors on this forum that could help
ID the stamping on the bottom of this creel? :bash:
Thanks

That’s a nice tight weave on that creel. I’m sure someone on ORCA Reel Talk will be able to help. Perhaps a little leather oil (like we use on old baseball gloves that are too dry) will bring out that logo without harming anything,

I'd be looking toward the midwest - surnames ending in inge have Germanic origin, which of course spread them to England and Scandanavia as well.

Thanks for looking guys
I tried the leather oil and took a dozen more pictures with no better results.
I also have it on the fly rod forum, but no results there either. If I get a reply
I will follow up with the answer.
I have a Lawrence creel and my research showed that he used a Loy of different
logos thru the years, but could find a match. The book on creels shows a few more but still
nothing close,
Thanks again

Gary got back and thinks it was made in Japan around 1950.
He thinks the mark in COMPAC.
I have to do more research on that company. Will keep you all informed.

Here is a Compac Trademark, about the right vintage. The LA company might have been an importer.
