Looking For Info On A Thos. E. Wilson Co. Reel

Post by wrong99 »

I have a very high-grade German silver reel made by Montague for Thos. E. Wilson Co. with a variation that I've never seen before. On the face is either engraved or stamped "L.B. Icely", one of the early founders of the company and president of Wilson Sporting Goods for 32 years. Does anyone have any information on this variation, whether it be a presentation reel for Icely, his personal reel or maybe a very short production run with his signature present? It's the first example I've ever seen. Any info will be most helpful.

Dr. Todd did an article on Icley and the Wilson company. I remember seeing it, I just don't remember where I saw it.

Thanks Ron. I just ordered the back issue last night. July, 2006.

Mark I have the same exact reel. Probably know less than anyone about the history. Love old German silver Montagues for sure. Doug Whittington
