Kingfisher win

Post by Mike N »

I was lucky enough to win this unusual copper Kingfisher print block/wax stamp online for only $17.50. It makes a nice addition to the Kingfisher thread spool collection John Etchieson helped me start. Also, thx to Tom R. for messaging me a “heads up.” Although I already had a bid in, it’s always cool to know a board member is looking out what for you collect. I’ll try to pay it forward to other collectors.

Note the two “punch outs” where type could be inserted depending on the line number and test weight pounds.

John even flipped the image for me to make it easier to read:

Thanks, Ron. Here’s a closeup of the very early Kingfisher foil seal on the dark brown, alligatored texture box in the group photo above. The attention to detail in these vintage boxes that were meant to be thrown away (ephemera) just amazes me.
