Need help identifying maker of HH Kiffe reel

Post by fishinkev »

I'm a long time lurker, but official new member.
First, a shout-out to Ron (Pres.) and Matt (IT Admin.) for their patience in helping me register and get signed on. I'm an IT idiot, so their help was much appreciated!
Now, to business...I've been trying to figure out the maker of this trade reel for H.H. Kiffe, with no luck, so I figured I'd appeal to the ReelTalks brain trust. It's nickel-plated brass (and noticeably heavy/hefty for it's size!) and marked "H.H. Kiffe Co. New York". The handle appears to have been repaired/replaced at some point. I acquired it a few months ago. What intrigued me (aside from the simple fact it's an old reel!) was the fancy click and drag knobs. I took it apart, cleaned it, and looked for distinguishing makers marks, but didn't see any - see pics.
Any ideas?

My pleasure, Kevin. For future reference: those sliding buttons and two pairs of small rivet heads on the tailplate are typical Kopf features.

Duly noted! I'll recognize those features as Kopf the next time I'm eyeballing another acquisition.
