Reel ID help
I picked up this reel earlier this month on eBay. I was thinking it was a Bronson brontex reel. Now I don’t think it’s Bronson at least that I can figure out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Reel ID help
Don't know why, but it reminds me of a Pfluguer reel...are there no markings anywhere?
Re: Reel ID help
Face plate is very similar to a Bronson Warrior No. 4100, but the design isn't right. The Warrior was round.
Wanted: Horton, Bristol & Meek reels, reel boxes, and catalogs!!!!

Re: Reel ID help
bcstones, no markings at all. Not a high end reel plated stamped steel. Thank you for your input.

Re: Reel ID help
Bill, I was thinking Bronson when I was going for it. Not either of the Bronson’s or the Coxe. Thank you for your input.

Re: Reel ID help
Mark, certainly the right shape, but enough difference in the metal work to think not. Thank you. A couple were chasing the reel maybe they give some input if they are on the board.

Re: Reel ID help
Bruce,
From Ocean City's 1935 catalog. The "St. Paul" was a rather obscure reel made for a short period. Can't tell from the catalog photo if it had a pillared foot, or not, but everything else lines up, including the spool, crank handle and grips. Says it came with a "walnut grained" Bakelite head plate (whatever that is). Originally sold for $1.15, so it was a low quality model. The closest I've been able to find.

Re: Reel ID help
Mark,
Holding the reel in my hand and comparing to the cut sheet it looks like a exact match. Dam you are good, how many years have you been flooding your brain with reels. I thank you so much for your help on this as well as past help. Again thanks.

Re: Reel ID help
Bill,
Yes I would be interested. It would nice be for that reel to have it's house back. Or at it’s price point maybe it’s more like a trailer.
