Shakespeare reel mfg. dates

Post by Don Champion »

Need a time period when Shakespeare made generic reels with made in the USA on the foot on a 45 degree angle. This would have been the same time as the Shakespeare Favorite 1733 was made with the same marking on the foot. Also the oval Skhakespeare logo on the cover plate. The gernerics I have are (1) a Gayle style, no other marks, (2) a Hummer, and (3) a Favorite marked same as the 1733 except no logo or number.

I can't answer your questions because I am 1100 miles from home and that is where all my info is but I can tell you from the top of my head that the 1733 Favorite was from the early Thirties. The Hummer was made from Shakespeare parts and can be found in the 1927 South Bend catalogue in 1927 only. You can contact Jim Madden, He is the expert for that one. When I get home, next Wed, I can give you the exact dates. Have A great holidaze, Harvey
