Meek&Milam #3 on ebay

I question item #3656168618 currently on ebay.. a good looking reel but the handle dosn't look right. Or perhaps its just the knob, what do you more seasoned Kentucky collectors think

The handle looks okay, but I'm not sure about the knob. But, I cannot say for sure that it incorrect. I would, however, expect a reel from that period to have a knob of ivory or horn. That one looks like celluloid to me... which was used later.

This is only an opinion... and mine come from very deep in left field, up against the wall.

Item #3656168618 definitely has the wrong handle. Reels of this age had either a crank handle or dog leg style-handle. The handle on it is from an early Meek reel, and the grip is from a much later Meek reel. The rest of the reel looks correct. Andy

That handle would then have been taken from a very rare reel... not many brass "Meeks" around.
