Here is a link to an incredible presentation posted on the Classic Fly Rod forum regarding gunsmiths who also made fishing tackle.

Beautiful display. Wish I'd known. It would have been worth the trip to Allentown.

On a related note, my book includes over twenty gunsmiths who made reels. An article on another, from Philadelphia no less, is in Richard's hands.

On yet another note, in case you need more info on Jerry's oft-mentioned John Krider: http://www.antiquefishingreels.info/Articles/Krider.pdf

Great display and information. I did not see Riley Haskel mentioned. I have seen two of his rifles and they were very well made as was the Haskel Minnow.
I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.

Some indicated they wished they would have known about Jerry Girard's tackle and gunsmiths exhibit in PA. There are a couple more coming up in 2020. If you get a chance to go, please stop and introduce yourself.

I wish he would present in Western Pennsylvania also. The Cabin Fever Show sponsored by the Penn’s Woods Chapter of Trout Unlimited near Pittsburgh just off the PA Turnpike would be a perfect venue this Spring.

The 2020 event is on March 4. This is last years’s link.

That's really steep for someone exhibiting and not selling!

Hmmmm.... I only paid for a $150 booth when I exhibited and it was great. But since it’s the same weekend as the Daytona FATC show, I can’t make it this year anyway...
