Here are some West Virginia pre-WW II (1934-1940) fishing (and hunting) license badges my son and I have collected. They are basically either statewide or for a district.
The five at the bottom are the rarest in our collection: female resident hunting and fishing license badges for 1935, 1936 and 1937 and non-resident tourist fishing only badges for 1939 and 1940.
All except the 1934 badges have paper inserts which contain the licensee’s name, address, age, hair and eye color and, what’s really neat, occupation. That info allows today’s collector to connect with the fisherman or woman who bought the license over 80 years ago.

Interesting that there would be a separate female's license. Any idea if there was a difference?

Males and Females have many differences. Females catch more fish.
