Press Release-Greenland Ice Sheet Melting

Post by RAM »

In a recent article in the 'Nashville Tennessean', quoted from the Los Angeles Times, it was stated: "From cores of ancient Greenland ice extracted by the National Science Foundation, researchers have identified at least 20 sudden climate changes in the past 110,000 years, in which average temperatures fluctuated as much as 15 degrees in a single decade."
It further stated: "The ice sheet seemed such a stolid reservoir of cold that many experts had been confident of it taking centuries for higher temperatures to work their way thousands of feet down to the base of the ice cap...By and large, computer models supported that view, predicting that as winter temperatures rose, more snow would fall across the dome of the ice cap..." However, their research found: "The glaciers are melting twice as fast as they were five years ago." No reasons were given for this phenomenon or for those ancient episodes of rapid temperature rise.

Asked to comment, Bad Bob stated: "It is difficult for me to believe that the world's leading scientists could make such an error. It is disturbing that we cannot have complete confidence in all of their conclusions."
He further commented: "Why, only last spring the top climatologists in NOAA had predicted fifteen tropical Atlantic storms, five of which were likely to be major hurricanes and would cause major damage to the Gulf Coast and the Eastern Seaboard. After zero storms striking the U.S. with other than minimal hurricane force winds, one must wonder if their computer models, billion dollar satellites, radar and communications systems need more fine tuning."
Bad Bob was further quoted as saying: "Recent global warming can definitely be attributed in part to petroleum consumption by Washington politicians on junkets throughout the world, frequent flights home for fund raising events, and in taking their children each day to exclusive DC schools in large vans and SUVs. It is doubtful that ORCANs attending the National Meeting will have a similar impact as there are fewer of them and they all drive hybrid cars."
