2011 ORCA Convention in Waupaca! It's happening now!

Post by Richard Lodge »

ORCA members have been arriving in Waupaca, Wisc., all day and room trading is fast and furious (or maybe it's casual and curious?). Here's some photos at the hotel, on day 1.

Jim Madden checks out a reel. "Not a South Bend!"

In Dave and Roger's room, tons of great reels. Looks like a Meek on that second shelf down?

This box o' reels is one of many items donated for the silent auction, to benefit the club. Might be a couple Billinghursts buried in there somewhere...

Only three pics and I'm already KICKIN MYSELF! Ted Williams, Meek, Bronson, Perez, Benson, Meisellbach, Pflueger, Horton...ouch.

Keep 'em comin' Richard...I've only got a couple of more days to finish off this gallon of scotch.

Couple of days????

Takes a lot less time here in Waupaca to finish that Scotch, Rick.

Not sure whose Camaro this is but I love the plate!

Then, there are some real reels inside:

Richard:

Thanks kindly for sharing the photos. Fine looking reels. And Jim Madden looks like he is in fit condition to reclaim the overall casting award (which he won at the 2004 Convention here in Fife, Washington).

And that Camaro is a dead ringer for the car awarded to Super Bowl MVP (and Cal grad and quarterback) Aaron Rogers.

And Rick, you might want to have a few pots of Seattle's finest to go along with that quart of Scotch if you intend to see these photos clearly.

Have a great time back there Richard. And please do keep those photos coming.

Why did I not expect this to be "John and Len's Big Adventure" :D

We're all expecting to see some big fish photos tomorrow and don't forget to hold the gear up with the fish for proof.

Big fish

Post by Richard Lodge »

Working on those big fish photos but the lighting inside the freezer chest at the fish market is a little tough. Still working on it.
:D

Starting to get our gear ready for the fishing tournament. Turns out we need licenses, so we're on the hunt for a "Gas, Guns, Chips, Worms and Licenses" shop, then off to the lake. Robin and Heather have rounded up boats and motors for the crew. Stay tuned...

The local and regional newspaper coverage is working very well - we've already had a few nice folks bring things in for us to look at, including a jeweled B.C. Milam #1 casting reel, with jeweled bearing caps. Room trading has been great so far - lots of nice reels trading hands. The weather is perfect too. Fishin' results later!

I snuck into town around noon, while the fishing tournament was going on and set up shop. Man it was a ghost town around here. Only saw two other ORCANS.

Who needs reels? I am chomping at the bit for you all to get back here and open up your rooms! I have beer and soda too 'cause I know you will be thirsty after fishin' all day! ;-) Room 225 Just knock if door is closed.

Pflueger "top ten" reels for trade (or maybe sale).

Pflueger Advance
Pflueger Atlapac 9/0
Pflueger Avalon (3 versions)
Pflueger Buckeye, original, 40 yd
Pflueger Guardian
Pflueger Kihoga
Pflueger Norka 60 yd bd
Pflueger Norka 80 yd pbd
Four Brothers Celtic

Brian...considering the analysis required normally to pin-down a "good reel" and get everyone to agree. I suspect the UGLY Reel Contest might take a bit longer...there's way more possibilities to argue over.
