Buckberry has been the location recently for the Casting For Recovery program for women undergoing treatment for or recovering from a bout with breast cancer surgery. If you haven't heard of this program, look it up on the internet. Great idea where they can share their anxieties and concerns and also learn how to fly cast and to catch a few trout in a beautiful environment. They have a fine time for a few days when they can be distracted from their problems (with no men present). All seem to find it a great idea. One of their meetings there was featured on our local TV. At the time I was impressed with the beauty of the lodge and its great location. The ladies couldn't have a better place to gather.
This is a great program and they can use more funding. Orvis is a big backer, but it depends far more on individuals. Look into possibly helping out on their web site.
Cheers and looking forward to the meeting!

Fishing contest rules
This will be my first ORCA National... (I can't wait!)
What are the rules for the fishing contest? How old does the equipment need to be including lures, line etc?
Thanks

Some guidelines were developed in 2004 for the fishing tournament. Normally the tournament is designed to have fun. This year it is on a private sportsman's club pond. You don't need a fishing license. Looking at the guidelines it calls for reels to be prior to 1940, braided line, lures prior to 1940 and metal spinners prior to 1940. Reels can be non-level wind, level wind, or fly reels.
You will be fishing from the shoreline. The pond has bass and bluegill sunfish.
