Sticky Handle Nobs

Post by Dale Noll »

Looking for a way to loosen Stuck/Sticky Nobs on one of my Pfluegers. Is there something better than the Vinegar/water treatment? Any suggestions on using a safe penetrating oil.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dale...There's probably multiple solutions. I just use a reel light oil, actually...Trumpet oil, used for lubricating trumpet keys. About a drop, let it soak-in for a few minutes and then I work the knobs until they spin freely. Just MHO.

Dale: As Rick says, most any good oil should do you. I've used penetrating oil...either Kroil or Liquid Wrench...but quantum oil is also good. I work it in the top and bottom, then sit on the couch, watch Pickers, and turn the handle back and forth, adding a bit more oil when it feels like I need it. Generally, by the time they have the truck loaded with crap, the handle is working about as good as it's gonna get.

I have always had good luck using a vibrasonic tank for loosening handle grasps.
