diesel fuel in parts washer

anybody ever tried this to degrease reels its cheaper than mineral spirits

It has a few more additives than mineral spirits. Otherwise if it doesn't harm the plastic parts it should be about the same. I think the flashpoint is about the same. Many of us wash the parts in soapy water after anyway. I buy mineral spirits about one a year so I'll stick to that.

Yes, will certainly do the job...but advantage of mineral spirits is you can get it as 'odorless' ...my years driving an Olly 88 on the farm took the joy out of sniffing diesel for me :D

never use desil fuel!!

:( :shock: :!: :idea: :type: usa Desil fuel has some rather strong agents in it to keep the fuel injectors clean! I have for many years used pure mineral spirts, dosent seem to hurt the reels! however its your reels, do as you like! and the other factor desil fuel will in time rust steel! Col. Brian - as I noted above the flashpoint is about the same. Around 100 degrees.

diezel fuel worked great price was less than half that of the spirits only drawback was wife asked WHAT IS THAT SMELL when i brought them in to soap them in the sink
