Mono and water residue

Post by Midway Tommy D »

I couldn't find any search info regarding vinegar/water soak on colored anodized reels and/or spools, i.e. open or close faced spinners. Most of the info refers to materials of conventional and fly reel types. Will it remove the mono and water residue that accumulates on many of the larger reel spools? Also, how long of a soak to get either off and will it remove color, coatings and/or anodizing?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Almost nothing short of abrasives or strong acid will remove anodizing.

Thanks Don! :cool

I kind of thought that was the case but I sure didn't want to end up with an aluminum spool. :(
