A First in cleaning

Post by Willis Logan »

Purchased a Shakespeare President off the internet. Reel arrived in the mail. took it back to my work bench and noted it was an EG (1964) production model. the reel was very clean for its age. When I opened it and pulled the spool ----on the back inside was a cobweb. Now I have cleaned thousnds of reels, but I have never found a cobweb in one before this reel.

I have worked on many old radios and I can fill a web page with the stuff that I found inside them, everything from old coins, dead spiders, live critters, eaten out pecan shells, etc. I just can't imagine opening up a reel and finding anything like that...even cobwebs. :)
