Building a reel from parts reels

Post by Rook »

When I acquire several old reels that are junk I enjoy taking parts from several of them in order to make a good reel. Here is Mitchell 301 that I built from parts reels that I accumulated over time.

Quite a transformation! At least one will go back into service. :)

Nice work, Rook.

I got a Mitchell CAP 304 in a lot of parts reels that I've cleaned up a bit hand have running ok. It was all there except one sideplate screw, just dirty and corroded.

I'm thinking of refinishing it, the rotor is pretty corroded and the frame paint is chipped and worn in places.

I'm curious about the paint you used on this project.

Nice job! I agree, curious about the painting...it came out great! How did you preserve the Mitchell logo?

Cheers,
