EVH 423 6/0 Before and After

Here are before and after pictures of an Edward vom Hofe 423 6/0 salmon reel. The serial number H 365 indicates it was made in 1915. The stamping on the rear grease cover " EDW.vom HOFE N.Y. PAT. Jan. 23, 83" was used from 1883 to 1924. When I got the reel it was in rough shape. The price was right so I bought the reel with the intention of seeing how much I could bring it back. Here are the results.

Quite a transformation, Ray! I much prefer the new look rather than that old crusty patina. :cool

Wow! Check your mailbox I've a dozen or so Holzman reels if you don't mind....I remember the days of working/polishing reels! No time today.. Great job Ray!
Wanted Ultra rare salt water reels including big game as well as unknown rare surf reels!

Nice save, Ray! Aren't you glad they used good materials in those days! You could fish that reel tomorrow!
