OLD PENN CLICKERS

Post by Marlinmate »

on old Penn sideplates, the clicker is pressed/welded/fitted onto the clicker stud.

On the new style and replacement parts, the clicker is held onto the Clicker Knkob stud with a c-washer

how do I go about removing the old style? Heat, drill it out?

Thanks for any help

Can we presume you intend to replace a worn out clicker w/new style C-clip parts?

Old Penn clickers were peened/riveted together. To remove them I'd suggest that you grind apart from the inside. You can either try to cut away the peening at end of post or cut away the arrow shaped blade. I have Foredom flexdrive tools, carbide burs & abrasive grind stones, but Dremel's will work. These tools are more delicate & safer to control than common drills which will try to spin the clicker parts.

i have removed those by filing a flat on the outer end of pin and when i drill i support that filed surface on a sharp toothed flat file that will help stop the spin,i am doing this in a upright drill press. i center punch the inside pin end to get the drill started in center.-------gene b.
