Help, Searched our files & Nothing. Permanent marker rem

Post by Dick Braun,that-zebco-guy »

I have a really nice box with some permanent marker on the side, any one know if you can use something to remove the marker ink and not hurt the orig ink on the paper. This is high gloss paper on an old Zebco model 11 box the red/yellow one's.

Goo Gone Gel works w/soft cotton cloth.

It doesn't take it all but most. Test on a spot that won't show up real good or won't damage the over-all apperence of the box. Brian can you move this to Cleaning and Restoration.

I have never tried this on a box for a reel before. But I have removed permanent marker from other items by using Methanol. Which you should be able to find at a hardware store. I would suggest doing a few tests with it before going all out on the box that you are trying to salvage. Hope this helps...
