My case hangs on the wall and is very shallow, so displaying a side mount reel is a challenge.

I recently acquired a Clinton reel and wanted a way to display it vertically in my case.

I set out to make a stand that would be as close to invisible from the front as possible

About half an hour in the garage and I came up with this ...

I'm pleased with the way it turned out, but for now consider it a prototype.

The dowel is screwed to the metal L-bracket.

Dean, Love it! Just a thought, what about an old fly rod seat screwed to the angle bracket? This gives me an idea for my side mount trollers!

Thanks Randy !

I cut the dowel 1/2" shorter than the Clinton's foot. A reel seat (which was my first thought too) would be too large.

Optimally, I want the reel to look like its floating.

Pretty ingenious, Dean. Great reel and a fantastic display.

Beautiful display and an ingenious stand for the reel.
