Shakespeare Spin Wondereels & Wonderspins

Post by Skip »

I gather most folks around here are interested in much older reels, but I like the old underspins.

Shakespeares here, a Spin Wondereel 1756 FC and a Wonderspin 1785 FE. The 1756 has the wrong crank/handle, I'm looking for a nice nickle/chrome one for it.

The short foot Wonderspins mounted at the rear like fly reels. No buttons, line release activated by back-cranking. That required disengaging the anti-reverse, re-engaging after the line was released if you wanted it back on.

They are well built reels with smooth drags. There is an article coming out about them and their South Bend counterparts in the July issue of The Reel News.
