Small reels, starting to look like a collection, eh?

Post by Richard Lodge »

I'm still looking for Haywoods and would like to find a small, single action Trowbridge. Looking at what's on my shelves I thought I'd group a few and post a photo. A few are identified. Starting from left, the small reel missing the grasp is stamped J. Perks Maker Redditch on the foot, behind it is a Star Reel Works reel that Craig Barber donated to the ORCA silent auction (and I won), a Bradford & Anthony Boston, the silver reel in the back (would love to add more Bradford & Anthony reels), a couple marked A&I (the two at right, in back), including the really dark one with the Bakelite grasp, which dates to the late 1880s. The two front and center are unmarked. If you have tiny reels you want to part with, please let me know. Thanks!

That’s a collection an ORCAn can hang his hat on, Richard. Nicely done.

Richard - that's a great smalls collection
John - beautiful group, what's the reel lower row third from right?
My smalls are a mix with an attempt to stay early American but I have a soft spot for small UK brass bimetals.

I’m calling it Pflueger, based on the foot, Royce! At least till i’m corrected. I had to dig them out of a box where they have been awaiting Richard to come harvest! :D
