Nick, I think this must be the reel you were referring to that you thought might be a Stead?

No not Stead BUT a California Klein....when line is pulled there should be a bell instead of a click! Your reels 1 of 2 made! What a great pair of book ends! Its even awhile since I’ve seen it...NICE! Tight lines Nick n NY

Another killer reel! Speechless!...well, almost...don’t see any Stead or Klein in that one...

Instead of a click the Klein reel has an internal bell that rings when lines taken out! I believe it to be a Klein BUT the second reel has a sliding click on the rear plate.

In spite of a bit of Pettifogging, a point was raised about some paperwork... either patent application or other, regarding this reel. Would be really nice to see other than speculations!
