A tale of two No. 25 tournament casters

Post by Mike N »

I picked up a modified No. 25 Bluegrass Simplex tournament casting reel on Joe’s to go with another No. 25 I’ve had for a few years which will spin forever. Here are a couple of photos.

The narrow spool reel has been modified to cast spider line:

I like to mount tournament reels on on rod handles for better display:

The newly acquired No. 25 post-factory modified reel has a spool width of only 7/8” to cast its spider line. The rear click/drag button has been removed and a large easy take-down screw inserted to change out the spool.

The factory modified No. 25 has a wider spool width of 1-1/2” with a thick cork arbor, tiny casting handle and a rear freespool button.

Nice reels Mike, especially the narrow spool.

Thanks for showing them.

Fun reels and make for a great collection! ...and yes, I need to get busy

I’m still in awe of anyone that can cast those reels loaded with line you can’t see!
