Dedicated ORCA Sec-Treas Roger Schulz spent five days out here in Idaho trying to top his 2014 20" largemouth bass. It was not to be. We had a great visit and Roger left with some fine reels, but the weather defeated us.
Monday we had a wonderful day with beautiful weather and we caught 34 largemouth by noon, but none over 17".
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the wind blew over 20 mph most of the day. I don't launch my boat in that type of wind. We did rescue those days by wading in a few open spots and were able to catch some decent fish. Roger was able to keep his swim bait out of the trees most of the time. When he did, it was "fish on".
These fish were just moving into the shallows and were mostly the smaller males, but the fishing was fun and exciting. This one was a pretty good fish and typical of the fish that were in the shallows. The bigger females were still out in deeper water and inaccessible due to the wind.
Friday was another beautiful sunny day and we launched at dawn. We fished until noon when the wind again started blowing and whitecaps rolled down the lake. We had tallied 29 bass for the morning, with most of them 16-18" fish, but still none to top Roger's 20" 2014 fish. Almost all the fishing was in submerged trees and brush that was in 6-12 feet of water. We were using creature and craw type plastics pitched into the trees. Most of the fish were at the base of the trees.
Saturday Roger flew back to Georgia to answer all the email and phone messages he accumulated in a week of fishing. I'm going fishing.
It was a tough week!

Must have been Roger's Birthday. He got a turn at the power end while Geeze was decky .
It's a good thing Geeze has not told Roger there has been some croc sightings in the Lake. He'd probably not enjoy wading as much.
Thanks for the photos .
