First Tournament in years
It's been a decade since I was fishing tournament trails in the northeast, and at least 3 years since I fished any tournament, so when the chance came up to fish on Lake Champlain for the east Greenbush BASS open, I couldn't pass it up. While we didn't get anywhere near the number of fish Phil, Roger and Dave have caught, my fishing partner and I did manage to catch 19.85lbs, good for 2nd place, anchored by these two 5lb largemouth. Not bad for a five fish limit, and for me, a challenge since the winds started out of the north, shifting to a direct east wind that really shut the fish down. If you ever get the chance to fish Champlain, don't pass it up. And yes, that is an Old Reel Collectors Association hat I'm wearing, available through the ORCA store.

Lake Champlain is terrific when fish are on the bite. You can catch as many Pike, Pickeral,
Lake Trout, Rainbows, Salmon, and on and on, as you have the strength for. Used to fish through the ice
there. By the fort, by the ferry, Putnam Station, Dresden Station, South Bay.All great places to catch fish.

Re: First Tournament in years
Thanks Everyone.
And yep, yet another ORCA hat that is available in the ORCA store.
Roger - we used a Whopper Plopper topwater and a bladed jig to catch our limit. Since we had a good limit early in the tournament, we used bigger baits to try and upgrade. In the process, we caught quite a few pike and some really big pickerel. I've used that Whopper Plopper alot this year, and just love it. So did this smallmouth on Schroon lakeWhat did you catch them on?

Nice fish Jim.
I caught a 40 pound limit earlier this year on my Whopper Popper. Fudge doesn't seem to like treble hooked lures. It was a struggle to get him off the hook, but two of us eventually got the hook out of his shoulder. It is a fun lure to fish.

If we concentrated on the really important things in life there would be a shortage of fishing tackle

Awesome largemouth for northern lakes! Or for any lake!
I live in Virginia Beach and catch what they call pickerel. You said you caught pickerel and pike. What is the difference?
