It's an interesting anatomy of reel dealings. As one member PMed me, usually deals happen behind closed doors so the newer folks don't get to enjoy the subtleties.

In this case I had about $35 bucks tied up in the three little Japanese ultra-lites, so Ben confirmed my original investment was not as crazy as I thought it was when I first got them home many years back. The Orvis was a $9 purchase last year to help an old friend at a gun show who hadn't sold a thing all day. The Swiss Whiz and the Daiwa were from separate batch purchases - where I had to buy four or five reels to get what I wanted. Pieced out I paid a couple three bucks for each.

Looking at condition and 'suggested retail value' I figured the six reels were easily 'worth' $85 - my original ask price. Because none of these fit my current interests, and I only had about $50 dollars invested, I was planning to come down to $60 - $65 bucks. So when Ben called me out, and put me over half way to my goal, it was Game Over.

And that my friends is the rest of the story.

Except my Wife pointed out I spent years carting at least some of those reels around, time researching prices and taking pictures and keeping up on posts and packing and shipping reels and worrying that people will be happy - for what? $10 - $15 bucks? She said she'd gladly pay me the $15 bucks just to get me out of my man-cave for a few extra hours with her.

But don't forget 'Ol Buzz. It's just an added bonus and doesn't get much better than that! :D

Ben,

I would have, but when I realized you used a credit card thru PayPal so I had to pay both the Credit Card fee and the PayPal fee, I decided against it.

We are both known for being especially cheap, so I didn't want to do anything that might tarnish our reputations . . . 8)
