Mark - I would call it a "Round Metal Disc Reel" like I would call the hard rubber disc surrounded by metal reel a "Round Rubber Disc Reel" Like Jim said they are all "Round Reels" to distinguish them from a "Raised Pillar Reel".
This is a good discussion to get input on a subject that I brought up at the last Buckberry Lodge ORCA Show & that is to try & get something in writing for our members on the different reel styles. I have not gotten very far on this because I have only received one reel style description & that was from our good friend Steve Vernon. I have requested others but to no avail. Any opinions on whether or not this is worthwhile pursuing? Thanks - Bill

Good idea, Bill. Don’t want to hijack this thread, but after we are done let’s agree on some common terms to describe reel parts...
grasp v. handle
handle v. crank
click v. alarm
